Dear Parent(s),

RSE: All classes will complete the RSE (Relationships and Sexuality Education) Programme during the week of 20th of April. Further information on these lessons will be sent out after the Easter break.

5 a Side: Well done to all the boys and girls who took part in the Primary 5s soccer blitz at Letterkenny Community Centre on Wednesday 25th March. Both teams performed tremendously with both finishing third overall on the day. Well done!

Green Flag: The Green Team continue to work on the water theme. They had a visit from the Green Schools Coordinator in February assessing their work for the water flag. The coordinator was very impressed with all their efforts. The school took part in a Daily Swaps Challenge, led by the Green Team this week. The whole school played a huge part in this, leaving a positive and lasting impact on water conservation awareness, both at school and at home. Well done everyone!

Student Council: The student council did a wonderful job during Seachtain na Gaeilge promoting the use of the Irish language. Everyone made a great effort to speak Gaeilge that week. The student council will continue to promote the Irish language encouraging everyone to speak a little daily using the phrases they have. Maith sibh!

Active Team: An active walkway has been set up around the school and is getting great use for movement breaks and orienteering lessons.

Gaelic Blitz: Pupils from 3rd and 4th class attended a fun, Gaelic blitz in St. Mary’s GAA grounds on Thursday 26th March. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day out and were commended on their excellent behaviour and participation! Gaelic continues for pupils in 4th, 5th and 6th class on Fridays.

Athletics: Pupils have begun a 6 week block of athletics with Ann Slevin from Finn Valley AC. This takes place every Thursday and is great preparation for the upcoming Primary School’s Track and Field Competition to be held on Wednesday 6th May.

Seachtain na Gaeilge: We celebrated ‘Lá Glas’ on Thursday 12th March. Pupils dressed in green and each class performed a song/poem as Gaeilge! We were also treated to some Irish dancing by senior pupils. We finished with a whole school performance of ‘An Dreoilín’. Prizes were also presented to ‘Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine’ from each class.

St. Mary’s GAA Art Competition: Well done to Cathal Gilroy in Junior Infants and Tommy Doogan in 1st Class who were the winners of the Seachtain na Gaeilge art competition run by St. Mary’s GAA, Convoy. Comhghairdeas!

Parents Association: Thank you to our Parent’s Association for providing the Easter eggs for our egg hunt on Friday. Reminder that our school 5k takes place on Friday 22nd May at 7.30pm.

Book Fair: The Scholastic book fair was a great success. There was a total of €1772 spent by the pupils and our school has been rewarded with €1,063 to spend on books for our classroom libraries. Thank you for supporting this.

There will be a school choir for the mass with pupils from 3rd-6th Class. Tea and refreshments will be served in the hall afterwards and as is tradition, parents of First Class pupils are asked to help out on the day.
